What Is It An Arraigo?
Arraigo in Spain: Residency by Settlement for Undocumented Migrants
Arraigo is a type of temporary residence permit granted under exceptional circumstances to non-EU nationals already living in Spain. It is one of the most common legal pathways to regularise your immigration status if you are currently undocumented.
This route recognises your personal, social, or economic integration into Spanish society.

Types of Arraigo Available (2025)

Arraigo Social
For individuals who have lived in Spain continuously for at least 3 years, and can provide a job offer or sufficient economic means, along with a social integration report. -
Arraigo Laboral
For those who can prove a previous employment relationship of at least 6 months, and a minimum of 2 years’ continuous residence in Spain. -
Arraigo Familiar
For parents of Spanish or EU children, or adult children of Spanish nationals by origin. -
Arraigo Formación
A newer option allowing you to apply if you commit to completing accredited vocational training or employment-focused education in Spain.

From 20 May 2025, new immigration measures will take effect in Spain, expanding the available types of arraigo (residency by settlement).
